About Gallery19lix.com

About me and the name of my Gallery 19lix.

My name is Mikael Jakobsson, who is behind Gallery19lix.com and 19lix.com .

The name "19lix" is a unique and creative combination of Arabic and Roman numerals that form the year 1959. This combination of numbers gives the name a mysterious sound while also having a historical connection to the past.

The name "19lix" is a combination of the numerals 19, which is an Arabic representation, and "lix", which represents 59 in Roman numerals.
It is precisely this exciting combination of numbers and cultures that makes the name "19lix" so unique and interesting. The name "19lix" is a reminder that our world is rich in diversity and possibility, and that we can create something beautiful by combining different elements in unexpected ways.

That the name "19lix" is my year of birth gives it a personal and even deeper meaning. It becomes not only a composite of numbers and cultures, but also a symbol of my own history and identity.

Biography

Born in Malmö, Sweden. Started photography back in 1972. Apprentice & assistant for 3 years (from 1978) before starting my first studio in 1982. Worked in advertising and fashion photography for the next 20 years. Member of Gruppen Svenska Reklamfotografer, GSR and SFF Swedish Photographers Association. This was during the film days. During the period, I participated in several group exhibitions as well as a large solo exhibition in Malmö City Hall.
Then came digital cameras and I stopped taking commercial assignments.
Now I'm just a photographer/visual artist using this beloved medium to express myself.

Trying to get my compositions right. My approach is deliberate and I strive to create images that are clear and uncompromising. It is important for me to establish a tone and a rhythm in my photographs. Good photography is like music. Tells a story and offers comfort or well-being.

I am a lifelong user of Nikon cameras. My latest love affair with Nikon is my amazing Nikon Df. Much of my current work is also done with my highly regarded Ricoh GR series cameras.
